July Sephora Play! Box + First Impressions
I’m really pleased with the Sephora Play! Box this month. Which makes me sad, because I temporarily discontinued my subscription to the Sephora Play! Box because Joseph and I are being cautious of our purchases, but alas. We were able to go out with a bang. Until we meet again Sephora Play! Box. So here is what came in this month’s Sephora Play! Box and my first impressions/review of each product:
THIS MONTH’S THEME FOR THE SEPHORA PLAY! BOX WAS “Beauty Staycation” IT FEATURED summer savers and nurturing skincare.
Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray – When I opened my box, I was so excited this product was included. This is a ride-or-die product for me — I even professed my love for it in this post. I love Briogeo, they’re one of my favorite brands because their products are coated in silicone that weighs your hair down and give you a false sense of conditioning. After every shower, I use this condition spray to keep my hair healthy, soft, and free from tangles. I think I’ve purchased 3 of the full-size bottles at this point, so I think it’s safe to say we’re committed.
Boscia Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-Off Treatment – I was pleasantly surprised! I’ll be honest, Origins’ products have not been kind to my skin, so I was thinking this would be like their charcoal mask (which my skin is not a fan). But it wasn’t drying, my sensitive skin wasn’t red or angry at me later, and I felt like it was gentle but definitely did the job. I will definitely be trying this again!
IT Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing Mascara – So I’m a little mad at this product. My eyes were completely done, same with foundation and setting powder, and I went to put this on and a chunk of the mascara went through my lashes and then fell onto my face. Grr. Besides that mishap, I did have to work with the product quite a bit so it wasn’t so clumpy, but I can’t say it’s a bad mascara. I’ve definitely seen much worse, but I don’t think my current mascaras should be shaking in their tubes. I will try again before giving my final verdict.
MILK Makeup Cooling Water – The initial reviews of this product on Sephora made me wonder if I’d like it, because it seems boring. This may be my favorite new product in the box. I tested it yesterday for the first time, and I think I’m going to really love this. Since I have oily/combo skin, I decided to put this on after moisturizing but before my primer. It feels slightly tacky (which helps your makeup stay on), and honestly I think this made a huge difference in blurring my pores and keeping them hydrated. It may be a fluke, but my skin wasn’t nearly as oily as usual at the end of the day.
bareMINERALS GEN NUDE Matte Liquid Lip in Swag – I love a good nude liquid lip. And I have a lot in this shade, so I was most interested to see if the formula would be better than my Tarte or Colourpop ones. For my lips, it’s definitely not. It was majorly disappointing, but it gave me that obvious line in the inside of the lips. Just not a fan of the consistency. So alas, I will need to see if there’s someone else who would like it.
Atelier Cologne in Orange Sanguine – Upon first whiff, I wasn’t so sure. But somehow after closing my eyes and breathing it in, I was reminded of France. Something about it feels familiar. This has blood orange, jasmine, and sandalwood for the main ingredients so there’s definitely a zesty and energizing feel to it. For some reason, there’s a sad reminiscence that lingers for me.
“It was the kind of moment you would want to revisit. Everyone was here, gathered on the terrace for breakfast, and the scent of fresh oranges was diffusing in the yellow heat. A symphony of their laughter and waves hitting the cliffs played in the air.”
So that’s it for this box! Let me know in the comments section below if you have any of these products and what your thoughts are.
