25 Days of Christmas Movies
It's mid-November, and I may or may not have watched a Christmas movie tonight... but I'm not sorry about it. I love Christmas, especially for the movies. So I decided to put together my top 25 Christmas movies that I plan to watch in the month of December. Feel free to follow along in this schedule, or just binge watch them if that's your thing.Read more.
25 Days of Christmas Movies
December 1: Frosty the Snowman"Happy Birthday! Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy soul! And the children say he could laugh and play, just the same as you and me." This is perfect film to start off December. Check it out here.
December 2: Santa Claus is Comin' to Town"Burger Meister Meister Burger afraid of a baby?" Can we talk about how weird it is that the penguin in this movie says "honk" when it communicates? This movie is so weird when you stop to think about it (uh he teaches the Winter Warlock how to walk?) Check it out here.
December 3: While You Were Sleeping"Who made you the Pope?" Sandra Bullock is amaze-balls. While I'm not sure if many people consider this movie as a hard "Christmas movie," since it's set at Christmas time, I put it under the umbrella of one of my top Christmas movies. Check it out here.
December 4: To Grandmother's House We Go"Did you just drop a chicken bone in my case?" "There's still some meat on there!" YAS. From the UPS guy who thought he was a cowboy to the cameos of Danny, DJ and Aunt Becky in one of the last scenes, you'll be sorry if you don't add this one to your list of Christmas movies to watch. Check it out here.
December 5: The Year Without a Santa Claus"I'm mister heat miser, I'm mister sun..." An oldie, but a goodie. This was the one with heat miser and cold miser (in case you have trouble like I do remembering which film was which in this series). Check it out here.
December 6: Just Friends"Be yourself... be yourself... be yourself... now come on, Mikey and I are making snow angels!" Ryan Reynolds is in a fat suit and Anna Faris is absolutely psycho. That is all. Check it out here.
December 7: The Holiday"I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true." One of the sweetest Christmas films out there. The score is absolutely genius, and Iris' opening monologue is probably one of the most honest and eye-opening realizations about love. Check it out here.
December 8: Serendipity"I hope you enjoy the gloves you bought yourself." "Oh I'm sure I will, I usually enjoy my own thoughtfulness." Fun fact: The frozen hot chocolate drinks from the Serendipity shop in this movie are a Christmas tradition every year during the holidays for me. Check it out here.
December 9: Home Alone"Buzz your girlfriend, woof!" The soundtrack alone is Christmas for me. Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal. Check it out here.
December 10: Elf"Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" Arguably one of the best Christmas movies, in my personal opinion. I will be watching this movie more than once this season, but I know some people aren't as openly weird as I am... Check it out here.
December 11: The Santa Clause"It's okay, I'm used to it. I lived through the 60s" This stupid movie messed me up so much when I tried to spell "Santa Claus" as a kid. If you enjoy the sequels, feel free to watch The Santa Clause 2 and 3... I personally stop after 2 because I feel like they aren't going to get better than the first one. Check it out here.
December 12: Love Actually"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around." This film is everything. Set in London, you've got Hugh Grant dancing like we all do when we think no one is watching. It's has Liam Neeson not scaring the crap out of you. Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman. Not to mention Mr. Bean makes a little appearance... Check it out here.
December 13: Mrs. Santa ClausIf you're a 90s kid (or any time prior to the 90s), you may remember this TV musical featuring Angela Lansbury. I LOVED this movie as a kid. Mrs. Claus decides to take a spin around the world leading up to Christmas, and she decides to bring joy to kids working in a sweatshop and to some women who are working for women's rights. Check it out here.
December 14: Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York"Don't you know a kid always wins against two idiots?" One of the very few times a sequel is just as good as the original. Check it out here.
December 15: National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"Merry Christmas. Kiss my ass. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass. Happy Hanukkah." This is a favorite in my family. We joke that Clark Griswold in this film is a lot like one of my uncles. This movie is basically Americans in a nutshell -- we go too hard, all the time, for every occasion. Check it out here.
December 16: A Christmas Story"Fra-gee-lay." A polarizing film where friends of mine either love it or hate it, but you can't argue that this isn't a classic. If you haven't seen it, you need to. Otherwise, do you really know how to Christmas? Check it out here.
December 17: Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer" ...Someday I'd like to be a... a dentist!" I get a lot of the claymation films mixed up, but honestly you should just watch all of them. (For reference, this is the one with the Island of Misfit Toys) Check it out here.
December 18: How the Grinch Stole Christmas"Here goes nothing hot dog!" Nobody could have played The Grinch better than Jim Carrey in this film. No one. Check it out here.
December 19: A Christmas CarolIt doesn't matter if you read the book, see the play, or watch the film, but you need to have "A Christmas Carol" as a part of your Christmas preparations. So many of these movies put life into perspective during the holidays, and I'm grateful for that (though the fact Jesus came into the world is pretty Earth-shattering already). Check it out here.
December 20: Miracle on 34th Street"What did you ask for?" "A baby brother" Such a sweet movie. I think if I were to imagine what my future daughter would be like, it would be this little girl. Check it out here.
December 21: Mickey's Once Upon a ChristmasTechnically this is a 3 in 1 movie with some short films. One with Mickey and Minnie selling their precious items to give each other a gift, one with Goofy and Max learning the importance of believing and serving others, and of course the Duck triplets wishing Christmas could be every day. Check it out here.
December 22: The NutcrackerAs a child, I was obsessed with The Nutcracker. Maybe it was because I was a dancer. Maybe it has a little something to do with my crush on Macaulay Culkin when he was about that age. (I'm brave enough to admit it, but definitely not sure what happened as he got older) You have to watch the 1996 version, as I have yet to watch one that rivals it. Check it out here.
December 23: It's a Wonderful LifeAnother classic. It's a more modern "A Christmas Carol" but most likely where the inspiration for "The Family Man" with Nicolas Cage came from. But this movie doesn't have Nicolas Cage, so it's a win there. Check it out here.
December 24: The Polar Express"Well... you comin?" This movie changed my world when it came out. I remember reading the story book in elementary school and being obsessed with the illustrations, and the film of course did not disappoint. Tom Hanks sure plays a lot of roles in this movie, but who cares, you do you Tom Hanks. The Polar Express is my favorite film to watch on Christmas Eve. Check it out here.
December 25: A Charlie Brown ChristmasIs there any other movie that is more appropriate to watch on Christmas Day? Merry Christmas! Check it out here. So that's it! What movies do you love to watch around Christmas time? Do you have any additions to the list above? Leave them down below! J. For more fun, follow me on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, and TWITTER!

Essential Oil Diffuser Recipes for Winter
This weekend I pulled out the Christmas decor (no shame), so of course it made sense for me to share my favorite winter essential oil diffuser recipes to get in the holiday spirit! I’ve said this before, but I’m not a fan of air fresheners, sprays, or plug ins. I love my candles, and I continue to burn those, but everything else makes the house feel stuffy and heavy.Read more.
Note: If you don’t have a diffuser, no worries. Bring a medium to large pot of water to a boil and then add a few drops of essential oil for a similar result.I’ve been diffusing these mixtures that I received in a pamphlet by artnaturals and I wanted to share their recipes with you because so far I’ve really been enjoying them. Essential oils have so many amazing benefits. I’ve been using them regularly in my diffuser, in my skincare routine, and for my hair! You can also check out my Top 5 Essential Oils here.

October Stars Hollow Monthly Subscription Box
[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=9OX8JtJffWo[/embed] If you’re out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold. All you have to do is call my name and I’ll be there on the next train. Where you lead, I will follow, anywhere that you tell me to. If you need, you need me to be with you, I will follow… where you lead. Today we are going to be unboxing and doing a review of the October Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box! Each box is $34, and the value of the box comes to about double the cost.So this is what I received in my Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box:
October Stars Hollow Monthly Subscription Box
Makeup Bag (Exclusive - $14.99 Value)This is lovely. I will say this was executed perfectly. The outside is white with a plastic feeling cover over it so it doesn't get dirty. The inside is a bright orange, so a good pop of color. The logo for the company is just the logo, no text which keeps it classy and it's in gold. This is perfect for when Joseph and I go to Montana for Thanksgiving to pack my makeup brushes in and any other toiletries.
Pocket Mirror (Exclusive - $9.99 Value)I'll be honest, when I first opened this, I got so confused as to what it was. It has a metal inside, so it wasn't completely clear it was a mirror. It has a side for a close-up mirror, as well as a standard, which is perfect to throw in a handbag. I'm not a huge huge fan of what quote they chose from the show to put on it, or the placement of the quote on the cover. I feel like that could have been done better. But overall, I'm pleased.
Micro Poptart Squishable (Exclusive - $7.99 Value)Not for me... personally the overly cutesy stuff just isn't my vibe because it's really hard to decorate and look like an adult who has her crap together if I have a bunch of cheesy TV and movie paraphernalia all over the place. Also we received a keychain in I believe the last box, so not feeling having both. This one will be passed on to another home.
Luke's Can Koozie! ($4.99 Value)This is probably my favorite item in the box this month. Though, the only thing that would have gotten me even more excited is receiving one of the giant oversized yellow coffee mugs with Luke's branding. That would have been amazing. But this is great.
Doose's Car Freshener ($2.99 Value)No lie, I slightly bent the bottom of mine trying to get it out of the plastic wrapper... besides that, it's adorable and it smells really nice. It's got a passion-fruity smell, so I hope that lasts a long time in the car. Love.
Miss Patty's School of Ballet Magnet (No Value Listed)Strangely the magnet wasn't listed in the little booklet for what was included for the month. I will say I will be gifting this to a coworker (along with a few other things if she's interested), as I feel like the amount of keychains and magnets we have received are a little on the high end. This one is on pointe though... see what I did there. So that’s it! What do you think of your October box? 10 Tips on Treating Breakouts
What do you do if you're suddenly breaking out? Sometimes it's one planet that surfaces, and other times it seems that there's a mutiny taking place on your face against you. While treating breakouts can be specific to each person, I've compiled a checklist of things to do when you start breaking out habitually. (Stay tuned for a sensitive skin girl's full skincare routine)Read more.
Treating Breakouts 101
Change Your Pillowcase and Wash Your SheetsThis one's pretty obvious. Think about it. You sleep every single night in your bed, and regardless if you're a night showerer, there's going to be some stuff left on your pillow that could clog your pores and irritate your skin. The first thing you should do when treating breakouts is change your sheets, and possibly your pajamas!
Grab a Clean TowelSame reasoning as changing your sheets for this one. If you can't pin-point exactly how long it's been since you switched out your towel for a fresh one, maybe it's time.
Try Using Tea Tree OilAdd a few drops of tea tree oil to your moisturizer. Tea tree oil is an antibacterial and anti fungal essential oil, which is perfect for combatting and treating breakouts. For more info on essential oil secrets for the body, check out my post on 5 Essential Oils You Actually Need in Your Life. A budget-friendly tea tree oil option I would recommend is this one from artnaturals.
Clean Your Makeup BrushesDon't neglect your makeup brushes. Make sure you're washing them often, and if you're breaking out, it's a good idea to give them a thorough clean. Here's a great cleaner for brushes. On that same subject, make sure you're never using the wand on your concealer directly on any breakouts. Always put it on the back of your hand and then use a brush to apply. Otherwise you're potentially putting bacteria back into your concealer tube until the next time you're using it.
Check Any New Makeup/SkincareThink about it for a second. Have you introduced something new into your skincare or makeup collection? Try omitting the new item for a bit to see if you're having a negative reaction to it. If so, keep in mind that you can return makeup and skincare if it's within the return policy for the store, even if it's been used. In general, check your face wash and moisturizer to ensure it's not possibly making your face react negatively. My favorite combination is this cleanser by Cetaphil and this moisturizer by CeraVe. It's SO gentle on the skin, and it has a very simple formula so you're less likely to have flare-ups from it.
Throw Out Old MakeupShocking, but did you know that makeup has expiration dates?? Are you using a year old mascara? Toss it. The same rule applies to all of your other makeup (including palettes!), so make sure you're never opening a new item before you've finished another. (Unless it's old and needs to be thrown out)
Try a Spot TreatmentBack when I was a teenager, I did the whole white toothpaste trick. While it somewhat works, the residue left on my pillow and overall irritation makes me opt for other options nowadays. Try this one by Cosrx. Literally they are a miracle in a little tiny circle! Where were those when I was in high school?? You can also directly apply tea tree oil for the breakout, lavender for the inflammation, and frankincense for the scarring.
Get Some SleepAre you stressed out? Your body needs to sleep to deal with that stress, so it goes without saying that your skin needs you to sleep as well. Missing out on sleep means dark circles and bags under the eyes, as well as... you guessed it, breakouts. Also, just in case no one ever told you, always remove your makeup before you go to bed!!! Even if you have dry skin and no breakouts, makeup will clog your pores and age your skin! Here's an article on what happens to your skin when you sleep in your makeup if you're into researching. My favorite makeup remover is also my pre-cleanser, you can check it out here.
Drink More WaterNot trying to sound like your mom. But the more water you drink, the more your skin is hydrated and able to turn over new skin cells. I'm trying to get better at this one in particular, but this is huge for both your skin and weight. How did I encourage myself to drink more water? I got this adorable glass water container for work from kiki.K.
Analyze Any Diet ChangesDo you typically avoid fried foods? Dairy? Candy? Maybe that's contributing to your breakouts. Just something to consider, as any greasy food is never going to help the situation on your face. So that's it! Do you have any tips on treating breakouts we haven't covered? Leave a comment down below with your tips and tricks! J. For more fun, follow me on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, and TWITTER!
Honey – The Best Shopping Savings Plugin
Hello everybody! One of the major things I get asked is how I save money when online shopping. As a blogger, and a general lover of all pretty things, I tend to browse shopping websites pretty often, but I never want to pay full price for anything. I HATE signing up for random search engines or websites where you have to take a billion surveys to only get 20 cents. I tried a bunch of sites from other blogger recommendations, and I just couldn't justify spending hours to save pennies. It felt weird, gimmicky, and frustrating.Read more.
My online shopping tool is a plugin called Honey
What is Honey? To be honest, it's really like an app that finds you the best deal on Amazon, or gives you cash back from hundreds of retailers, from Sephora to Macy's. (Think of it as an online shopping plugin that acts like the Capital One card that gives you a percentage back from your purchases) Check it out here. Do you see the little cursive h? When you install Honey on your computer, it will add that little "h" to the top of your website browser. Any time you're shopping, the plugin will activate. When you reach the website's checkout, you click the little "h" and it will immediately scan to see if there are any coupons available on the web to save you money on the spot, or it will give you cash back if the website is included on their list of retailers.
Why do you like Honey? There are very simple reasons for why I love this plugin:
- It has a "best price detection" feature for Amazon!
- There is no extra effort on my part -- no wasted time filling out surveys or watching dumb videos, no "checklist" of items
- It doesn't make me feel sleazy or like I'm participating in something shady (anyone who has used money saving websites knows what I mean by that)
- It's a free plugin
- It's so stinking easy to use
How do I save and earn money on Honey?Below is a sample transaction from my account. I purposefully tried to find a month where I purchased from two very different retailers. One is Sephora, and the other is Paper Source. Next to where it says "Gold cleared," it shows you the percentage cash back I got from those retailers. From Sephora, I got 4% cash back, which was 278 gold ($2.78 cash back). Paper Source had a much smaller cash back option available, but it was still there. Also, during checkout, Honey will give you coupons to try from the web! You can also submit coupons to the site for others to save more as well. See below for some examples!
How is Honey free?Honey partners with these retailers so they receive a commission from every sale. So while you get to save money on your purchase, the retailer also pays Honey. (It's a lot like Groupon in that respect) So that's Honey! Check it out here. Pretty cool plugin huh? How do you save money while shopping? If you have any additions to something I should add to my routine, let me know in the comments below! Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you next time! J. September Stars Hollow Monthly Subscription Box
[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OX8JtJffWo[/embed] If you’re out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold. All you have to do is call my name and I’ll be there on the next train. Where you lead, I will follow, anywhere that you tell me to. If you need, you need me to be with you, I will follow… where you lead. Today we are going to be unboxing and doing a review of the September Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box! Each box is $34, and the value of the box comes to about double the cost. It feels like the boxes are getting better each month, and I was pleasantly surprised at what the "big ticket" item was this month. So this is what I received in my Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box:Read more.
September Stars Hollow Monthly Subscription BoxStars Hollow Handbag (Exclusive - Value $59.99) Obviously the purse was the "big ticket" item this month. How cute is this?! Normally I'm not a fan of small purses, and I stray away from anything too crazy fandom-wise when it comes to fashion, but I can actually see myself reaching for this purse for fall quite a bit -- whether that's for outings or times that I want to be cozy and flaunt my love for Gilmore Girls. Stars Hollow Key Fob by EOD Designs (Value $5.99) I can't be this stupid... I literally can't figure out if I'm supposed to somehow hang my gate key fob from the key ring on this so it dangles behind it (which would make sense), or if it's just supposed to go next to it like a keychain. To me, it makes sense to have it be directly attached to the fob so it "protects" it, but maybe that isn't the purpose. If it hangs like a keychain and acts like a keychain, call it a keychain and let's call it a day. But either way, it went on my keys almost immediately after I opened my box, so that's a win. Gilmore-Inspired Framable Art Print (Value $7.99) This is adorable. The paper is a matte cardstock, which means it was a lot less likely to bend during transit. While I imagine that if they did a print in every box (because lez-be-honest, that would be the easy route), I would get pretty annoyed, but this is the first print I've received, so I loved it 🙂 It says "I'd rather be at Luke's," which since Luke is the one with the coffee in the Hollow, that's where you'd find me! So that's it! What do you think of your September box? (Or mine if you don't subscribe) You can check out Lit-Cube and the Stars Hollow Monthly subscription boxes here. J. LUSH – Halloween 2017 Releases
Hello everyone! I received a packet in the mail with information on the LUSH Halloween 2017 releases, so I wanted to share all of them with you -- as well as which ones have caught my eye! These are limited edition, so they will only be available for the season. So if you're interested, stop by LUSH, or if there isn't one near you, feel free to click the links below to check out any of these for an amazing autumn bath!Read more.
Bath BombsA huge guilty pleasure of mine are bath bombs. Especially if they're infused with skin benefits, I'm a huge fan. Many times LUSH's bath bombs are a bit strong in scent, so just something to keep in mind.
Pumpkin - Featured ingredient: Pimento berry oilThis "bath-o-lantern" is fall vibes. This bomb is a fizzer, and it'll fizz out a "spicy-sweet pumpkin pie perfume full of exotic pimento, sweet vanilla and cozy, warming cinnamon." Berry can be a bit more exhilarating than relaxing, but this sounds like soaking in fall, which I'm all about.
Lord of Misrule - Featured ingredient: Patchouli oilThis one starts out with a gorgeous green and then the center releases a reddish wine-colored center. It's a spicy herbal blend, so it's a more invigorating with a stronger scent. Patchouli is great for the skin, so this is going to be a more nourishing bath bomb.
Monsters' Ball - Featured ingredient: Himalayan Rock SaltI'm not going to lie, I'm the most excited for this one. First of all, duh, it reminds me of Monsters Inc. Secondly, the inside of the bomb is blue, so it creates a gorgeous swirl of pink, blue and purple around the bath. It also has a fruity lime and neroli perfume, which I imagine leaves a gorgeous lingering scent when you step out of the bath.
Bubble BarsI typically get 3-4 uses out of the bubble bars at LUSH, so I will break off portions of the bar and crumble it under the tap for a beautiful bubbly bath. Sometimes I will even combine a small amount of a bar with a bath bomb to mix my own bath.
Bewitched - Featured ingredient: Frankincense oilFrom the look of this one, it'll turn your bath into an almost black bath, which is very appropriate for Halloween. According to the website, this bubble bar will "conjure up a shroud of berry-scented bubbles and dark, mysterious waters with mountains of fluffy, fragrant bubbles." Frankincense essential oil has a lot of skin benefits, as well as for overall health. Some include: stress and anxiety relief, reducing pain and inflammation, boosting immunity and even helping to fight cancer.
Pink Pumpkin - Featured ingredient: Bergamot oil* Warning - This bubble bar does have glitter * Marketed for those who would rather dress up as a unicorn than a zombie, this bright pink bubble bar uses a blend of bergamot, geranium and jasmine to create a bath full of pink shimmer and bubbles.
Sparkly Pumpkin - Featured ingredient: Cinnamon stick* Is it necessary to give a warning for glitter when it's called "sparkly"? * After reading the description, this is basically everything I love about fall in a bath. It has the warmth of cinnamon, the energizing refresh of lime and grapefruit oils, and the color of autumn. YAS.
Lord of Misrule - Shower CreamJust like the bath bomb, this shower cream has an herbal blend of black pepper, patchouli and vanilla. The shower creams are notorious for being really nourishing, so that plus patchouli and vanilla -- YUM. The only thing you would need to figure out is if this particular scent is for you.
Black Rose - Lip TintI'm not sure how I feel about this... it starts out black in the tube, but when applied to the lips, it gives a pinkish red tint to the lips. It has kalahari melon and jojoba oils, as well as a fruity spearmint-mandarin flavor. But hey, maybe that sounds amazing to you!
Goth Fairy - Body Shimmer* Warning - This body bar does have glitter * If you're looking for a body highlight, this is your shimmer fairy. During the winter, they have Snow Fairy, but this "goth fairy" applies iridescent sparkles on your skin, while adding hydration with illipe and cupuaçu butters.
Hedgewitch - SoapStaring at the rows of soap is probably one of my favorite things to do at LUSH. They're just these huge tube-like structures spread out all over the counter. The featured ingredient in this soap is extra virgin coconut oil, which has amazing softening benefits for the skin. Hedgewitch has blackberries and a fruity fragrance if that's your style.
Magic Wand - SoapHarry Potter anyone? Another sweet/fruity smell, this soap is infused with pomegranate for brightening and charcoal for detox, leaving the skin squeaky clean!
The Ones I Definitely Will Be Trying :
- Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar
- Monsters' Ball bath bomb
- Lord of Misrule bath bomb
- Either the pink pumpkin bubble bar, or the pumpkin bath bomb (not both though, cause I ain't loaded)
26 Facts About Me
Hello everybody! Is it starting to feel like fall where you are? Fall is my favorite season. The air has a crispness to it, scarves are back, football is on, and the world changes color before our eyes. I wanted to take a breather today and just share a little about me with you. I know that I write about a lot of my favorite products or experiences I've had, but I'm not terribly great at sharing things about myself. So I'm going to attempt to do that today with 26 facts about me! 1. Why 26 facts? I'm 26 years old. (At least I think I am... yes, yes I'm 26) 2. I'm married to who I believe is the perfect match for me. God knew what He was doing when He made Joseph. With the major exception of Jesus, I have never experienced the kind of love that Joseph shows me daily. I have a lot of friends who tell me all the time that they just want to be married... and I totally get it. But I also feel like that desire to be married can make people overlook how long forever actually is (and thus the desire to have that little box checked overshadows if that person is the right person). Every day Joseph reminds me what a wonderful choice I made when I said yes to spending my life with him. 3. My dog, Sookie, is where I got the name for my blog. She's a rescue from the Atlanta Humane Society and the first dog I've ever had. She's half border collie, half german shepherd, and the smartest clumsiest dog in the world. (And she's named after Sookie St. James from Gilmore Girls) [easy-image-collage id=995] 4. I can't watch scary movies. My imagination tends to run a bit wild, and if I watch anything too scary, I have to stay up for hours or I will have nightmares. 5. If I could live anywhere, hands down it would be in London. 6. I like to have "thinking spots." Though to be honest, I'm usually observing more than thinking. When I'm inside, I like to push an oversized chair in front of a window and look out. If I'm outside I can be almost anywhere, but my favorite spot is near a lake. 7. My favorite concert was Ed Sheeran's Multiply tour. He has so much beautiful, raw talent. It didn't hurt that Rudimental opened for him, but Ed came out with only 2 guitars and a loop pedal for his entire show. And I have never been that blown away by a musician since. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buAzVkcH4YI[/embed] 8. I have a serious weakness for good BBQ. (Texas BBQ if we're getting technical) 9. Ever since working as an assistant manager at Claire's, it physically bothers me when I have chipped nail polish. 10. When I was in high school, I went through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. (It's AP on steroids if you aren't familiar) If I'm being honest, I have never been challenged to expand my mind to that degree since. 11. I have a very strong sense of doing what's right, especially when it comes to protecting others. When I was in 9th grade, I discovered a friend of mine was cutting herself. I "tattled" on her (her words) to a counselor, and lost her (and a few other people) as a friend for a few years. Not that I had anything to do with her recovery (that was 100% her, and I'm so so proud of her), but when she healed we were able to reconcile as friends before we graduated high school. 12. I once swam with sharks when I was on my period. Not kidding. It was my last day as a PR intern at Georgia Aquarium, and to celebrate I got to swim in Ocean Voyager with the whale sharks. (There's other sharks, rays, fish, etc in there as well) I got my period that morning. The dive master told me that I would be fine since I would have a tampon in, a swimsuit on as well as a wet suit, and that the animals are so well fed that I wouldn't be in danger... but that doesn't mean my legs weren't clenched. That's me! --> 13. I'm not a big fan of sugary desserts. I don't mind candy or smores from time to time, but it doesn't take much before I get a sugar overload... Joseph is the sweet tooth in our family. 14. I'm definitely not a morning person... I'm a night owl who likes to sleep as late as possible. 15. For the longest time, I felt like I was "performing" for what everyone else wanted. I grew up feeling like I was fat, ugly and completely undesirable. Everyone else felt it was so important to tell me what I needed to be. I'd be loved if I were smarter, so I went after the highest GPA and awards in middle and high school, but that wasn't enough. I'd be loved if I were thinner, so I was pressured into diets that didn't work and made me feel even worse about myself (even though there was nothing wrong with the way I looked). I eventually got to the point where I realized that everyone was projecting their own insecurities onto me and that if they didn't love me as is, then it didn't matter what I did because it would never be enough. I found Jesus shortly after I hit that ultimate low, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still learning that it was never about working for love. 16. My music taste is a little all over the place, but if I can appreciate the heart and purpose behind someone's music, I'm a fan. Some of my absolute favorites include: Queen, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift. 17. My biggest mistake ever was cutting my own bangs. Hated it on day 2. Someone smack me if I ever say I want to try it again. 18. I was bullied a lot as a kid. Moving to GA from CA was the worst move (I've lived in FL, TX, CA, GA, and now specifically Atlanta). Kids can be nasty and I became really withdrawn in middle and high school to blend in and try not to get criticized for being different. College and post-college was where I started feeling a lot more confident in my skin and with who I am as a person. 19. I'm an ENFP for those of you that means something to. 20. I'm an aspiring novelist. I have a bunch of ideas that swirl around in my head, and I think I've imagined an entirely new world that my hands are itching to get down on paper. It's a process... but it's a dream of mine. Every day I take another step in brainstorming and crafting characters, their stories, and the world they live in. 21. I'm the second of four children. Joseph is the third of four children... so at the moment I have 8 siblings. (Up to 12 if everyone gets married) I also have 2 nieces and 2 nephews on Joseph's side. (This photo of me with bangs back in the 90s should have deterred me from trying again, but nope) 22. Basically half of what I say is movie/TV/book quotes. Most of the time they slide by without anyone noticing. But if you talk to me for more than 10 minutes, there's a very good chance there's some easter egg quotes somewhere in my dialogue. 23. I'm a Gryffindor at Hogwarts, a Pukwudgie at Ilvermorny, and I have a basset hound for my patronus according to Pottermore... I'm not mad about it. 24. If I had to get rid of one item in my makeup routine, it would probably be highlight. As a combination skin girl, my skin produces oil to where I don't need to highlight super often. (I know that probably offended some people since the Youtube community is like bonkers for having an unnatural alien-like glow) 25. I'm an aesthetics person. I love art and decorating to make a room feel comfortable and cozy. 26. Southern style house-made ranch is always the answer. On fries, pepperoni pizza, fried pickles... you name it, I'd try it with ranch. (Just for clarification, Nature Valley's ranch is not what I'm referring to. That stuff is nasty) So there's 26 facts that you may or may not have known about me. I'm seriously impressed if you read all of that. And if you did, that's amazing, and we should be friends! 🙂 J. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OX8JtJffWo[/embed] If you're out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold. All you have to do is call my name and I'll be there on the next train. Where you lead, I will follow, anywhere that you tell me to. If you need, you need me to be with you, I will follow... where you lead. Today we are going to be unboxing and doing a review of the Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box! Each box is $34, and the value of the box comes to double the cost. I'm so excited for the fall and winter boxes because it's my favorite time of year, and considering Stars Hollow is located in Massachusetts, I'm sure there are a ton of amazing items to come! So this is what I received in my Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box:Read more.
Doose's Market Mug ($14.99 Value)Even though Taylor was one of the most annoying characters for me on the show, you have to admit the man had the cutest shops. I wish Doose's existed in real life. This mug is awesome. The emblem isn't painted on the mug (it's pressed on), which immediately makes me think I'm going to need to wash it by hand. I did already have someone who thought the mug was for a real place that spelled "deuces" wrong....
"I Drink Coffee Like a Gilmore" Tumbler ($14.99 Value)I may or may not have squealed when I opened the box and saw this. I'm OBSESSED with good coffee, and I've been needing a larger tumbler to bring my morning cup of coffee to work in. I have a test that any travel cup has to pass for my morning coffee. It has to keep my coffee hot when it's poured while I'm getting ready for the day, it has to survive the car ride to work, and then it has to still be piping hot when I get to the office (because sometimes, as Mr Heckles from FRIENDS would say, I wasn't ready for it). This passed with flying colors.
Luke's Non-Slip 4 Pk Coasters ($19.99 Value)I only have a slight note for these... the "non-slip" part refers to the bottom gripping onto the table, not the coaster holding onto your drink. There is a difference for me. Besides that, these are so unique and awesome. I'm not sure if the people who partner with the box write the price for what it retails for, but I personally wouldn't pay $20 for these. But either way, the value of the box covers what I would actually pay, and I love them.
Stars Hollow Coffee Sample ($2.99 Value)Oi with the poodles already! This entire box is basically coffee themed, and I'm not mad about it -- Lorelei Gilmore is basically my spirit animal. Lit Cube also has a coffee club in addition to their two other subscription boxes, so if you're a coffee lover, you may want to add that on to your list to check out as well! I haven't gotten around to trying this one quite yet, but it smells a bit berry-esque which will be interesting for when it gets a little cooler out. So that's it! What do you think of this box? The fact I have a huge love for coffee, hot chocolate, and any other hot fall drink means I was a pretty big fan of this box. Today we're going to be unboxing my Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box! Each box is $34, and the value of the box comes to double the cost. So for anyone new to my blog, I have only a handful of TV shows that I watch. The Big 5. And most of them are re-runs. FRIENDS, Gilmore Girls, That 70s Show, House of Cards, and So You Think You Can Dance. That's basically it. My dog is named after Sookie St. James from Gilmore Girls, so needless to say when I found out there was a Stars Hollow monthly subscription box for Gilmore Girls I was like, YAS GIRL. So this is what I received from my first Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box:Read more.
