LUSH – Halloween 2017 Releases
Hello everyone! I received a packet in the mail with information on the LUSH Halloween 2017 releases, so I wanted to share all of them with you -- as well as which ones have caught my eye! These are limited edition, so they will only be available for the season. So if you're interested, stop by LUSH, or if there isn't one near you, feel free to click the links below to check out any of these for an amazing autumn bath!Read more.
Bath BombsA huge guilty pleasure of mine are bath bombs. Especially if they're infused with skin benefits, I'm a huge fan. Many times LUSH's bath bombs are a bit strong in scent, so just something to keep in mind.
Pumpkin - Featured ingredient: Pimento berry oilThis "bath-o-lantern" is fall vibes. This bomb is a fizzer, and it'll fizz out a "spicy-sweet pumpkin pie perfume full of exotic pimento, sweet vanilla and cozy, warming cinnamon." Berry can be a bit more exhilarating than relaxing, but this sounds like soaking in fall, which I'm all about.
Lord of Misrule - Featured ingredient: Patchouli oilThis one starts out with a gorgeous green and then the center releases a reddish wine-colored center. It's a spicy herbal blend, so it's a more invigorating with a stronger scent. Patchouli is great for the skin, so this is going to be a more nourishing bath bomb.
Monsters' Ball - Featured ingredient: Himalayan Rock SaltI'm not going to lie, I'm the most excited for this one. First of all, duh, it reminds me of Monsters Inc. Secondly, the inside of the bomb is blue, so it creates a gorgeous swirl of pink, blue and purple around the bath. It also has a fruity lime and neroli perfume, which I imagine leaves a gorgeous lingering scent when you step out of the bath.
Bubble BarsI typically get 3-4 uses out of the bubble bars at LUSH, so I will break off portions of the bar and crumble it under the tap for a beautiful bubbly bath. Sometimes I will even combine a small amount of a bar with a bath bomb to mix my own bath.
Bewitched - Featured ingredient: Frankincense oilFrom the look of this one, it'll turn your bath into an almost black bath, which is very appropriate for Halloween. According to the website, this bubble bar will "conjure up a shroud of berry-scented bubbles and dark, mysterious waters with mountains of fluffy, fragrant bubbles." Frankincense essential oil has a lot of skin benefits, as well as for overall health. Some include: stress and anxiety relief, reducing pain and inflammation, boosting immunity and even helping to fight cancer.
Pink Pumpkin - Featured ingredient: Bergamot oil* Warning - This bubble bar does have glitter * Marketed for those who would rather dress up as a unicorn than a zombie, this bright pink bubble bar uses a blend of bergamot, geranium and jasmine to create a bath full of pink shimmer and bubbles.
Sparkly Pumpkin - Featured ingredient: Cinnamon stick* Is it necessary to give a warning for glitter when it's called "sparkly"? * After reading the description, this is basically everything I love about fall in a bath. It has the warmth of cinnamon, the energizing refresh of lime and grapefruit oils, and the color of autumn. YAS.
Lord of Misrule - Shower CreamJust like the bath bomb, this shower cream has an herbal blend of black pepper, patchouli and vanilla. The shower creams are notorious for being really nourishing, so that plus patchouli and vanilla -- YUM. The only thing you would need to figure out is if this particular scent is for you.
Black Rose - Lip TintI'm not sure how I feel about this... it starts out black in the tube, but when applied to the lips, it gives a pinkish red tint to the lips. It has kalahari melon and jojoba oils, as well as a fruity spearmint-mandarin flavor. But hey, maybe that sounds amazing to you!
Goth Fairy - Body Shimmer* Warning - This body bar does have glitter * If you're looking for a body highlight, this is your shimmer fairy. During the winter, they have Snow Fairy, but this "goth fairy" applies iridescent sparkles on your skin, while adding hydration with illipe and cupuaçu butters.
Hedgewitch - SoapStaring at the rows of soap is probably one of my favorite things to do at LUSH. They're just these huge tube-like structures spread out all over the counter. The featured ingredient in this soap is extra virgin coconut oil, which has amazing softening benefits for the skin. Hedgewitch has blackberries and a fruity fragrance if that's your style.
Magic Wand - SoapHarry Potter anyone? Another sweet/fruity smell, this soap is infused with pomegranate for brightening and charcoal for detox, leaving the skin squeaky clean!
The Ones I Definitely Will Be Trying :
- Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar
- Monsters' Ball bath bomb
- Lord of Misrule bath bomb
- Either the pink pumpkin bubble bar, or the pumpkin bath bomb (not both though, cause I ain't loaded)
26 Facts About Me
Hello everybody! Is it starting to feel like fall where you are? Fall is my favorite season. The air has a crispness to it, scarves are back, football is on, and the world changes color before our eyes. I wanted to take a breather today and just share a little about me with you. I know that I write about a lot of my favorite products or experiences I've had, but I'm not terribly great at sharing things about myself. So I'm going to attempt to do that today with 26 facts about me! 1. Why 26 facts? I'm 26 years old. (At least I think I am... yes, yes I'm 26) 2. I'm married to who I believe is the perfect match for me. God knew what He was doing when He made Joseph. With the major exception of Jesus, I have never experienced the kind of love that Joseph shows me daily. I have a lot of friends who tell me all the time that they just want to be married... and I totally get it. But I also feel like that desire to be married can make people overlook how long forever actually is (and thus the desire to have that little box checked overshadows if that person is the right person). Every day Joseph reminds me what a wonderful choice I made when I said yes to spending my life with him. 3. My dog, Sookie, is where I got the name for my blog. She's a rescue from the Atlanta Humane Society and the first dog I've ever had. She's half border collie, half german shepherd, and the smartest clumsiest dog in the world. (And she's named after Sookie St. James from Gilmore Girls) [easy-image-collage id=995] 4. I can't watch scary movies. My imagination tends to run a bit wild, and if I watch anything too scary, I have to stay up for hours or I will have nightmares. 5. If I could live anywhere, hands down it would be in London. 6. I like to have "thinking spots." Though to be honest, I'm usually observing more than thinking. When I'm inside, I like to push an oversized chair in front of a window and look out. If I'm outside I can be almost anywhere, but my favorite spot is near a lake. 7. My favorite concert was Ed Sheeran's Multiply tour. He has so much beautiful, raw talent. It didn't hurt that Rudimental opened for him, but Ed came out with only 2 guitars and a loop pedal for his entire show. And I have never been that blown away by a musician since. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buAzVkcH4YI[/embed] 8. I have a serious weakness for good BBQ. (Texas BBQ if we're getting technical) 9. Ever since working as an assistant manager at Claire's, it physically bothers me when I have chipped nail polish. 10. When I was in high school, I went through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. (It's AP on steroids if you aren't familiar) If I'm being honest, I have never been challenged to expand my mind to that degree since. 11. I have a very strong sense of doing what's right, especially when it comes to protecting others. When I was in 9th grade, I discovered a friend of mine was cutting herself. I "tattled" on her (her words) to a counselor, and lost her (and a few other people) as a friend for a few years. Not that I had anything to do with her recovery (that was 100% her, and I'm so so proud of her), but when she healed we were able to reconcile as friends before we graduated high school. 12. I once swam with sharks when I was on my period. Not kidding. It was my last day as a PR intern at Georgia Aquarium, and to celebrate I got to swim in Ocean Voyager with the whale sharks. (There's other sharks, rays, fish, etc in there as well) I got my period that morning. The dive master told me that I would be fine since I would have a tampon in, a swimsuit on as well as a wet suit, and that the animals are so well fed that I wouldn't be in danger... but that doesn't mean my legs weren't clenched. That's me! --> 13. I'm not a big fan of sugary desserts. I don't mind candy or smores from time to time, but it doesn't take much before I get a sugar overload... Joseph is the sweet tooth in our family. 14. I'm definitely not a morning person... I'm a night owl who likes to sleep as late as possible. 15. For the longest time, I felt like I was "performing" for what everyone else wanted. I grew up feeling like I was fat, ugly and completely undesirable. Everyone else felt it was so important to tell me what I needed to be. I'd be loved if I were smarter, so I went after the highest GPA and awards in middle and high school, but that wasn't enough. I'd be loved if I were thinner, so I was pressured into diets that didn't work and made me feel even worse about myself (even though there was nothing wrong with the way I looked). I eventually got to the point where I realized that everyone was projecting their own insecurities onto me and that if they didn't love me as is, then it didn't matter what I did because it would never be enough. I found Jesus shortly after I hit that ultimate low, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still learning that it was never about working for love. 16. My music taste is a little all over the place, but if I can appreciate the heart and purpose behind someone's music, I'm a fan. Some of my absolute favorites include: Queen, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift. 17. My biggest mistake ever was cutting my own bangs. Hated it on day 2. Someone smack me if I ever say I want to try it again. 18. I was bullied a lot as a kid. Moving to GA from CA was the worst move (I've lived in FL, TX, CA, GA, and now specifically Atlanta). Kids can be nasty and I became really withdrawn in middle and high school to blend in and try not to get criticized for being different. College and post-college was where I started feeling a lot more confident in my skin and with who I am as a person. 19. I'm an ENFP for those of you that means something to. 20. I'm an aspiring novelist. I have a bunch of ideas that swirl around in my head, and I think I've imagined an entirely new world that my hands are itching to get down on paper. It's a process... but it's a dream of mine. Every day I take another step in brainstorming and crafting characters, their stories, and the world they live in. 21. I'm the second of four children. Joseph is the third of four children... so at the moment I have 8 siblings. (Up to 12 if everyone gets married) I also have 2 nieces and 2 nephews on Joseph's side. (This photo of me with bangs back in the 90s should have deterred me from trying again, but nope) 22. Basically half of what I say is movie/TV/book quotes. Most of the time they slide by without anyone noticing. But if you talk to me for more than 10 minutes, there's a very good chance there's some easter egg quotes somewhere in my dialogue. 23. I'm a Gryffindor at Hogwarts, a Pukwudgie at Ilvermorny, and I have a basset hound for my patronus according to Pottermore... I'm not mad about it. 24. If I had to get rid of one item in my makeup routine, it would probably be highlight. As a combination skin girl, my skin produces oil to where I don't need to highlight super often. (I know that probably offended some people since the Youtube community is like bonkers for having an unnatural alien-like glow) 25. I'm an aesthetics person. I love art and decorating to make a room feel comfortable and cozy. 26. Southern style house-made ranch is always the answer. On fries, pepperoni pizza, fried pickles... you name it, I'd try it with ranch. (Just for clarification, Nature Valley's ranch is not what I'm referring to. That stuff is nasty) So there's 26 facts that you may or may not have known about me. I'm seriously impressed if you read all of that. And if you did, that's amazing, and we should be friends! 🙂 J. August Stars Hollow Monthly Subscription Box
[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OX8JtJffWo[/embed] If you're out on the road, feeling lonely and so cold. All you have to do is call my name and I'll be there on the next train. Where you lead, I will follow, anywhere that you tell me to. If you need, you need me to be with you, I will follow... where you lead. Today we are going to be unboxing and doing a review of the Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box! Each box is $34, and the value of the box comes to double the cost. I'm so excited for the fall and winter boxes because it's my favorite time of year, and considering Stars Hollow is located in Massachusetts, I'm sure there are a ton of amazing items to come! So this is what I received in my Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box:Read more.
Doose's Market Mug ($14.99 Value)Even though Taylor was one of the most annoying characters for me on the show, you have to admit the man had the cutest shops. I wish Doose's existed in real life. This mug is awesome. The emblem isn't painted on the mug (it's pressed on), which immediately makes me think I'm going to need to wash it by hand. I did already have someone who thought the mug was for a real place that spelled "deuces" wrong....
"I Drink Coffee Like a Gilmore" Tumbler ($14.99 Value)I may or may not have squealed when I opened the box and saw this. I'm OBSESSED with good coffee, and I've been needing a larger tumbler to bring my morning cup of coffee to work in. I have a test that any travel cup has to pass for my morning coffee. It has to keep my coffee hot when it's poured while I'm getting ready for the day, it has to survive the car ride to work, and then it has to still be piping hot when I get to the office (because sometimes, as Mr Heckles from FRIENDS would say, I wasn't ready for it). This passed with flying colors.
Luke's Non-Slip 4 Pk Coasters ($19.99 Value)I only have a slight note for these... the "non-slip" part refers to the bottom gripping onto the table, not the coaster holding onto your drink. There is a difference for me. Besides that, these are so unique and awesome. I'm not sure if the people who partner with the box write the price for what it retails for, but I personally wouldn't pay $20 for these. But either way, the value of the box covers what I would actually pay, and I love them.
Stars Hollow Coffee Sample ($2.99 Value)Oi with the poodles already! This entire box is basically coffee themed, and I'm not mad about it -- Lorelei Gilmore is basically my spirit animal. Lit Cube also has a coffee club in addition to their two other subscription boxes, so if you're a coffee lover, you may want to add that on to your list to check out as well! I haven't gotten around to trying this one quite yet, but it smells a bit berry-esque which will be interesting for when it gets a little cooler out. So that's it! What do you think of this box? The fact I have a huge love for coffee, hot chocolate, and any other hot fall drink means I was a pretty big fan of this box. You can check out Lit-Cube and the Stars Hollow Monthly subscription boxes here. J. Check out the July Stars Hollow Monthly box review here. July Stars Hollow Monthly Subscription Box
Hello everybody! Today we're going to be unboxing my Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box! Each box is $34, and the value of the box comes to double the cost. So for anyone new to my blog, I have only a handful of TV shows that I watch. The Big 5. And most of them are re-runs. FRIENDS, Gilmore Girls, That 70s Show, House of Cards, and So You Think You Can Dance. That's basically it. My dog is named after Sookie St. James from Gilmore Girls, so needless to say when I found out there was a Stars Hollow monthly subscription box for Gilmore Girls I was like, YAS GIRL. So this is what I received from my first Stars Hollow Monthly subscription box:Read more.
Dragonfly Inn pajama shirt ($29.99 Value)This shirt is so soft! I definitely feel a strong kinship to Lorelai Gilmore... maybe it's the coffee or the fact that I talk really fast about incoherent things. Oi with the poodles already. This is definitely a great shirt for the summer time because the fabric is very breathable and it has a loose fit to it. I will say the only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was that mine fit a bit strange at the bottom, but I think it has to do with the fabric.
"Where You Lead" white socks ($8.99 Value)These are probably my least favorite item in the box. They're super cute and I love that the stripe matches the shirt. I'm just not a huge fan that the words are made with that tough/sticky paint that I used to use during craft time in Girl Scouts. It just makes it feel a tiny bit cheap. (Despite the high listed price tag)
Trust Fund Beauty nail polish in "Vicious Trollop" ($14.99 Value)I am ALL about that name... for those who need a refresh, "Vicious Trollop" was the name of the lipstick that Lorelai and Emily bonded over while they were away for a spa weekend. The color is a deep red-pink color and it has almost a duo-chrome finish. So far I haven't experienced any chipping on day two, which usually is a pretty good sign for me. Apparently the two other colors you could have received were "Ready to Wallow" (when Rory breaks up with Dean) and "Wookie One Night Stand" (which is self-expainatory if you've watched the Netflix reboot).
Megpies strawberry poptart ($3.99 Value)Megpies is an Brooklyn manufactured bakery that started doing bake sales, then moved to a cafe with deliveries available on bicycle, and now you can order from them online. Obviously Lorelai and Rory only really have coffee and strawberry poptarts for breakfast, so this is fitting. Ironically strawberry or cherry poptarts were the only thing I could eat in the morning before school without feeling sick, so I'm excited to try this out tomorrow!
Al's Pancake World fridge magnet (price not listed)If I'm being 100% real, this may be my favorite item in the box. It makes me laugh so much. Because now anyone who comes over who hasn't seen Gilmore Girls is going to be so weirded out that I have a magnet of a Chinese takeout box with "Al's Pancake World" on it.
Other PurchasesSo on the website for these monthly boxes, they also let you buy merchandise from previous boxes with leftover stock. You may have seen this on my Instagram already, but of course this is a planner I had to have. It's so awesome. It's Luke's Diner menu, and on the front page, it has Luke's classic sign of "NO cellphones." So that's it! What do you think of this box? Are there any boxes you're obsessed with that I should check out? You can check out Lit-Cube and the Stars Hollow Monthly subscription boxes here. J. Check out my July Sephora Play! Box review here. 5 Essential Oils You Actually Need In Your Life
I'll come out and say it, there is SO much information on essential oils out there. And it's really stinking overwhelming when you want to start using them. #InformationOverload. So I decided to come up with my top 5 essential oils list and what I use each one for to help those of you who may be wanting to get into essential oils for the first time. (Or hey, maybe you love them and are an expert yourself!)Read more.
Pro Tip: One thing to keep in mind when purchasing essential oils is that you want them to be 100% pure. There are a lot of places that you can purchase essential oils from. I personally have a lot of oils from doterra, and recently I was sent some oils from artnaturals. Personally I love them both, but artnaturals is way friendlier on the wallet so that's where I will be heading to repurchase. I also love that on the artnaturals website, you can shop by ailment. So if you're looking for a solution for stress relief, the drop down menu brings you straight to the oils that will help with that. But anyways, here are my top 5 essential oils that you actually need in your life.
My Top 5 Essential Oils

DAZI Men’s Ties are All YAS for Spring/Summer Weddings
One of my favorite parts of wedding planning is finding the little details where you can uniquely be yourself and let your personality shine through. A lot of wedding products feel impersonal and very "one size fits all" -- and for good reason. The wedding industry is huge and everything is produced in bulk. But if you have a spring or summer wedding, I think I have an amazing men's ties brand that you should look into for the special men in your ceremony!Read more.
DAZI Men's Ties[easy-image-collage id=735] Can we take a moment for how handsome my husband is in that tie? He's wearing the style called Crew (pictured left). It's a gorgeous muted blue with multiple undertone colors, which gives it dimension in photos. I love the quality of DAZI's ties. They're 100% cotton and they're handmade. Not to mention that in addition to their skinny neckties, they have bowties, pocket squares and tie bars. They also have kids' ties for any little ones in the wedding party! Their online selection is so versatile. If you're a southern belle looking for a floral bowtie, they have one! If you're more of a city rooftop type of gal, you'll get a Mad Men vibe from some of their skinny ties.
Why I love DAZI
- They're unique
- Each tie is high quality, but for an affordable price point
- They have bulk order discounts!
- The ties are handmade
- They're perfect for all special occasions -- not just weddings!

Check Out This Cool Kickstarter – The Air Lamp
Levof Tech launched a kickstarter campaign that is taking modern home decor to an entirely new level.Last year, there was the floating lightbulb. Which I would have purchased based on aesthetics alone. #Hipster. This is the "Air Lamp," which was created by the same manufacturing group as the floating lightbulb. It's completely portable, and the light portion levitates and spins! [video width="1280" height="720" mp4="http://foxfacewithjennifer.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Smart-Air.mp4"][/video] The lamp comes in three colors: silver, rose gold and black. (Rose gold - YAS!) It has two USB ports and can last up to 12 hours. It's also wire-free, which means you can move it wherever you want. (Man, that would have come in handy when we had that awful thunderstorm last month and had to use candles and a cell phone ring light to see) I love Kickstarter campaigns. I love when entrepreneurs find something they're passionate about and just go for it. Kickstarter is a lot like having traditional investors (without them having a say in production or distribution, which helps entrepreneurs avoid getting screwed out of their own inventions). What do you think? If you're interested in learning more or supporting the Air Lamp, click here. And let me know what other awesome Kickstarter campaigns that you find that we should check out! J. Songs of My Childhood – The 90s
It's 2017. I'm just letting that sink in as I'm reflecting on the songs of my childhood. I'm a 90s kid (1991), and in my personal opinion, the 90s era was the best. We had Lisa Frank, Dunkaroos, Fresh Prince, blow-up furniture, Limited Too, butterfly clips. We were in the beginning of the digital age, but not completely consumed by it. There was also some amaze-balls music too. I compiled a much longer list than this, but join me on my walk down memory lane.Read more.
B*Witched - C'est la VieCan we just take a moment to admire that thumbnail? Oh, and there's random river dancing. Not to mention the blonde in this reminds me of Lucy from 13 Going on 30. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvjLgjtJKsc[/embed]
Britney Spears - Baby One More TimeBack in the 90s, Britney was queen and we were just living in her world. Though I will forever think of Freaky Friday when I hear this song... Ahhhh Chad Michael Murray.
Hanson - MmmbopNot even sorry about getting this song stuck in your head. Does anyone really know the correct lyrics to this song? [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHozn0YXAeE[/embed]
Sir Mix A Lot - Baby Got BackI still know this entire rap. I'm quite proud of it... I may even add it to my resume. Ross and Rachel would be proud.
A*Teens - Upside DownThere's not much that I'm embarrassed to admit... but I am embarrassed I liked this song. Why is it so flipping catchy? And no, I totally didn't have this on repeat while writing this post... [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggiUMDccO0Y[/embed]
Backstreet Boys - I Want It That WayA classic. At my school you were either a Backstreet girl or an NSYNC girl, though if I'm being honest, I was both. And since Burger King was actually pretty good back in the 90s, it made for a pretty hilarious joke when this song came on the radio.
Aaron Carter - I Want CandyBefore Justin Bieber, there was Jesse McCartney. And before Jesse McCartney, there was Aaron Carter. The boy who threw a huge party and told us about how he beat Shaq at basketball. Oh, and Lizzie McGuire was there. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLPpGKKV3s4[/embed]
Spice Girls - WannabeYou can't make a 90s list without Spice Girls. It would just be unnatural.
Smash Mouth - All StarSmash Mouth was my first concert. This song was like the best pump up song before a soccer game. Well, this and having one of those Capri Sun drinks. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_jWHffIx5E[/embed]
Aqua - Barbie GirlSo many sleepovers that I went to growing up had this song blaring through the night... "Come on Barbie, let's go party!"
Christina Aguilera - Come on OverI remember thinking this song was so risqué since it had the word "sexuality" in it. The Christina vs. Pink fandom was real. [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RQDIJ2CvbA[/embed]
NSYNC - Tearin' Up My HeartLast but not least. No regrets. NSYNC and Backstreet Boys were my bread and butter, and definitely the most fun to dance to with friends. In no way is that list comprehensive... I definitely jammed out to some Hootie and the Blowfish, REM's Shiny Happy People, a little Shania Twain, and of course Madonna. What were your favorite songs in the 90s? Leave me a comment and we can reminisce! J. For more fun, follow me on FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, and TWITTER!
My Favorite Artists – Spring
If you're new to my blog or just getting to know me, you should know that I'm heavily into aesthetics. Whenever I'm in a new apartment or office, it's important that I make the space my own. So it's pretty typical to find art, vintage pieces, photos, etc. around. I'm constantly on the lookout for new inspiration and pieces, so I'm pretty sure this post is going to become a reoccurring series.Read more.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” - Pablo PicassoToday I thought I'd share some of my favorite artists with you. There are some watercolor artists, interior designers, an illustrator, and a stationary couple. All of them are amazing. Some are friends... some I dream about being friends with one day. But all of them have immense talent and I highly recommend you checking them out.
